Red Latin Dancing Costume

I was contacted back in October/November of 2009 to create a custom made Latin Dancing costume for a client through Celtic Dragon Dress Designs. The customer wanted a dress that made her look mature and made her legs look longer, as she was competing against older women. We worked through many designs before finally settling on one. The design is inspired from one of her favorite dresses, with a change in embellishments, fabric, and the design for the back. I finished the dress in January of 2010, and she danced in the Eastern Dancesport Championships in Boston, MA. She placed 2nd and 4th!

 Construction

The dress is made out of a metallic foil spandex, stretch glitter knit, and confetti dot. It has a built in bra and built in boy shorts for modesty. The skirt is attached to the main body of the dress and the tails are pinned on with a huge rhinestone brooch. The first version of the dress had sew on rhinestones decorating the bodice and torso of the dress, but they have since been changed out for glue on rhinestones since the settings were catching on her partner's shirt!
